I beam probably the best way. Of a stronger wood or G 10.

Is the I beam setup like the pic above or does the I beam run the other way through the riser? I hear a lot of talk about I beam setup but nobody ever shows one.

Many winters ago Mike  Fedora suggested I add glass to the back of my risers.  He said adding a couple of layers of glass was like adding a inch of wood.  I took his advice to heart and put three layers on the back ever since.  Haven't had one brake since.  Haven't used i-beams that much but, they have proven equally as strong.

G10 is my favorite, on my 3 piece I put a g10 I beam and also back the riser with g10

Then there are the guys that 'speak in tongue'...  There is one guy on another forum that, I can read his post 5 times and I still don't know what he is talking about...  Maybe some liqueur involved...  Lol...

1 1/2"  40-42#.   The big thing is if you drop a bow hitting the handle when braced it could snap.  That is a big concern.  ............. layering the back of the handle with glass is about the easiest method I think .  Thanks
