Well MuzzleLoader Season started yesterday and my bud Nook went to the woods with our longbows and we both came home with a doe each. What a great day. I haven't taken a deer with my longbow in two seasons so this was to me a great day!
Nook and I both tag teamed a long ridge with the North wind in our favor.
After a little up hill hike I found a nice popular with good cover and decided to climb. Settled in around 3pm and saw deer at 4pm.Enjoying the breeze and the beautiful scenery from 15 feet up,leaves starting to let go and the vibrant colors higlighting the woods.
It was getting near 6 pm and to my right and behind me the woods came alive as bucks and does zipped past me at mach speeds.
The last two were does and stopped about 60 yards below me so just for the heck of it I hit my grunt tube hoping one of the bucks had stopped near the thicket and would get curious.
well to my surprise the two does came back up the ridge and got with in 30 yards, still curious the one decided to pass broadside at 18 yards, not wanting to spook her i took my shoot as she walked in front of me. My 58 inch Zipper Nitro armed with a 500 plus grain 500 fMJ and a Grizzly broadhead sent the arrow to the doe with authority. The arrow went higher than i would have hoped but broke the spine and well the rest of the story is in my cooler. Thanks Nook for a great day of memories.

Way to go!! Congrats to the both of you!
Thanx Danny for posting our pictures. It was a memorable hunt for sure. Dan and I have been teaming up for close to 25 years. This was the first time we both took deer with longbows on a Black powder opener. We were about 200 yards apart on the same long ridge. I had a button buck under me for 20 minutes around 4:30. Saw several other does passing by around 30 yards. Then around 6:00 I get this text from Dan " Shot a doe. Getting down." At the same time I here footsteps coming my way. I Positioned myself and took my own doe. A&H ACS 57lb at 29.5, 64 inch delivering a Goldtip 300 with a single bevel Grizzly broad head Jazzed up D&M arrow (555gr.) Dan was shooting a Grizzly head also. We also both had a nice downhill drag. Then the celebration... :goldtooth: I want to thank Dan's wife Dawn for taking our hero shots for us and providing us a great dinner. Jeff
Way to go guys!!
congrats on a fine hunt :clapper:
