Title: paper tuning-what paper to use?
Post by: T.L on March 28, 2008, 08:53:00 AM
Hello all,
A rather odd question but when paper tuning does it matter what type of paper you use? I have seen some people using newspaper while others use a heavier weight. Any input would be appreciated.
thanks,
Tom.

I would think any weight paper would work as long as you dont go overboard on the heavy side.  It seems that the lighter the paper the more perfect your flight would have to be so it would fly through and not rip.

Don't bother paper tuning with trad gear.  Just bareshaft the arrows and save yourself some grief.  Paper tuning really comes into play with compound archers using a release.

I have a friend in the medical profession and I've found that the paper rolls used to cover exam tables make for perfect paper-tune fodder.

I've never paper tuned, but if I did, I work at a printing facility. I think I can find some paper here somewhere.  :)

Use news paper.... It has always worked for me...

"Just bareshaft the arrows and save yourself some grief. Paper tuning really comes into play with compound archers using a release." I do better paper tuning then bareshaft.... On my Shrew I get the arrow to de-paradox about 5 yards or so.

Butcher paper, if you need it in a roll. There's a good paper tune segment on Masters of the Barebow Volume 2.
