I have a Cascade night hawk that I accidentally just put some scratches in the riser and would like to know what I should do to fix it? They are not very deep but they sure stand out. I tried to contact Steve Gore at Cascade about how to take care of and what to finish it with but I cant get a hold of him. So I will ask for your guys help. Thanks.
Lightly rub the scratches with 0000 steel wool and a small amount of linseed oil. Wipe the excess oil off and let dry.
Then go to the local Ace Hardware and purchase a small bottle of Howards Restore A Shine "Fine" and finish the job. If you are working with fiberglass other than wood, then try a bit of Fritz Polish for fiberglass and plastic.
Old English, light or dark!
You can do the same thing with the linseed oil and a felt pad also.
Wet-sand them out with 2000 grit wet dry sand paper...and then polish over the area....If you need a little new finish...Birchwood & Casey gun stock tru oil will fix it right up.....bowdoc
Hi Bowdoc, thanks for the advice. I will do just that...not on the bow you refinished for me! That one is still blemish free.
I've seen toothpaste and a soft cloth work, It's the mildest form of abrasive you can use.
Thanks for the advise guys. I will get working on it.
Thanks
Can I use the above mentioned on my Black Widow riser?
In most cases the 2000 grit wet dry, will remove the scratches and not cut all the way through the finish. You should be able to polish out the 2000 grit pretty easy with some rubbing compound.bowdoc
