Well, don't let this get around. Okay? You see the old man (me) has a TS-1 string on his Hawkeye and it is shooting great. I had two made to give them a try, on the advice of a co-conspirator from Tradgang, I believe.
Well...I put the string on this morning and adjusted the brace to where it was quietest without silencers, and I was quite suprised how quiet it was. When I put Wooly Whispers on the string, the noise all but went away.
The bow is very dead in the hand with this string, even moreso than it was with my beloved dacron. It behaves quite differently than the fast flight stuff I tried before. It does require a stiffer arrow.
So far I'm liking this string material and will keep you abreast of my adventure with low stretch.

Love the subject line of this post. :D I've been wanting to give TS-1 a try myself.

George,
First it's ccccccccarbons and now TS-1.What the heck is going on?
-
Not to get excited Dale, you have to keep the audience interested or they will cancel the show 8^).
-
OH, I get it,next week you'll be back to the Herter's Sambar,POC and B-50.
-
...love that TS-1...
-
I thought all real Bedford County Pa Trad Archers still used B-50? I suppose even the dedicated of Trad Guys like the new inventions:)
B-50 was good enough for Fred, it's still good enough for ole Roy Boy:)
LOL, Good Morning George..

George, I've never had the pleasure of meeting or talking to you before but appreciate the post.
From Nebraska and never seen or used a TS-1.
But we really are in the middle of the country.
I did put a set of Bow Hush and Hush Puppies on a 57 Kodiak that I recently purchased and the difference was as sweet, as my mother would say, between a fiddle and a harp.
Guess I'm going to break down and try a TS-1

:bigsmyl: :wavey:
Wish more guys made strings out of it, it's the best one I've used on every bow I've tried it on.
-
So who does make strings of TS-1?
I'm all about trying anything that might make my setup quieter.
-
Both guys that made mine are no longer making them. Thankfully, I have a stockpile...by the time these run out they may have something even better developed. If you do find a good maker who uses TS1, please let me know...just in case. :D
-
My bow has a TS-1 string on it. I like it.
-
Jerry Commerford of Emporia Kansas makes mine. If you PM me, I'll give you his e-mail when I get home from work tonight. He makes great strings.
Bowferd....Don't use any non-stretch strings on that 57 Kodiak Special. It wasn't built for them. I use strictly Dacron on my old bows.
-
Hey Roy, when you gonna' make me one of those osage bows? I have some dacron that will work on it 8^).
-
Trust ole GAWGE on about anything...but especially on NOT using fastflight type modern, low stretch string material on any bow that doens't have macarta or fiberglass reinforced limb tips!
I had one made special to a bowyer's specs and it still cut the limb like a laser... and that bowyer is no longer in biz to make me new limbs
:( Don't take chances...

3treebowstrings.com has TS-1 Plus strings.I like em as well and some of my bows shoot better with it.A few shot better with other materials
-
I was using TS-1 and it was the queitest material I had tried so far out of D97, 450+ and FF. I got a spool of 8125 and have made a few to test. The 8125 is faster, but its still not as quiet as the TS-1 is. I think I am going to switch back to the good ole TS-!.
-
George, Thanks for the input. I saw what a ff string can do to one of those old Kodiaks. I bought a broken 59 off the auction sight and am tring to rebuild it.
I had LeRoy make a new dacron for my prize 57 Kodiak Special.

How soon ya want it George? What weight, length, etc? Ya got a lot of money? :) They are high dollar bows ya know?
