I took fellow TradGang/TGMM Member and friend FubarFred on a Gator hunt Tuesday night, in the Low Country of SC. Let's just say for now that Fred knows what to do with a gator tag! I will let Fred tell his story when he recovers on his sleep!

Wow! That looks like something I'd ever want to be in a boat with..... DOA Congrats!
:campfire: :bigsmyl:
Well I guess Fred is still catching up on his sleep! we had about 45 minutes sleep over a 36 hour period, that is rough on us old guys! So here is another teaser.
Now if Fred gives me permission I will gladly tell the story with only the truth and nuttin but the truth! :smileystooges:
Made it to the boat landing before dark,

Had some lightning popping way off in the background!

Saw lots of these during the trip! :goldtooth:

Can you call and wake him up please?
Looking forward to this! Greg
Benjy, you are a bowhunter, so the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth is totally out of the question. Still, we look forward to a good story. Bring it on!
Gators freak me out. I don't understand people that want to be waters when they are there.....let alone one in a boat!! You sure is hes dead? :bigsmyl:
Since Benjy has texted me twice, called a couple times, and now my wife is hollerin' for me to get up I'd better say something. I can't seem to get pictures to work so I'll let Benj send them often enough to keep y'all interested. We left his house at 1700 on Tuesday evening and drove for somewhere around two hours. He had me blindfolded the whole time, well, except to pay for gas for the truck, so I won't spill the beans on his 'private gator spot'. The tide was going out when we got there so we geared the boat and put 'er in. We used the trolling motor to go up stream and drifted back on the outgoing tide. I had been following his suggestions for a month or so and was practicing at hitting plastic soda bottles at 5 yrds. Didn't seem to help much as I missed like a kid just picking up a stick and string. After a few hours of this we checked the head setup (the arrows, not mine) and determined the lack of penetration was due to faulty setup on my part. Benjy hs been doing this for a few years now and has taken several folks from this website hunting gators. 'He knows of where he speaks' paraphrasing someone from a tv show in the past. We got back to the boat landing at about 03 and as the water was way out took a short 45 minute nap. I need to finish a few things, so I'll come back and finish this after some more pics are up loaded.

Sam, Fred said that he did not have 2 weeks to drag this out like I would! You must have read one of my stories!

He was definitely dead before he was put in the boat but of course, I always put the tail on my end of the boat. I also always give them the boat paddle test before they get to ride in the boat! That consist of thumping him on the head with the paddle. If he bites it, well, he is not ready for a boat ride!
And, yes, my boat paddle has a lot of teeth marks in it!
Ok a couple more pictures:
This is after he passed the Boat paddle test otherwise fred would NOT be that close and yes, that is a smile on Freds face!!!

This is the long slow ride back to the landing with a beautiful sunrise. I will let Fred tell you why the ride was slow...

In for the rest!!!!
Bisch
Why, to many gators to run fast? This is going even slower than the current. :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
Love that first pic of the gator in the boat.
Ok, my daughter has a gator tag also, I will be taking her tonight so I guess I will try and post more pictures later on today.
Got yourself a dragon!!!!
The rest of the pictures, Fred will post the rest of the story later on, he is headed over so we can grind up some gator burger!
My daughter and I did not see a shootable gator last night so we will try it again next week. :dunno:

Oh Fred, where are you? :help:
that's a biggun! congratts! :o
Holy smokes. Either Fred is only 3' tall or that is a big a** gator.
Congrats!!
Congrats guys, my guess is you two fogies couldn't get that tiny lizzard in the boat so you had to tow it back, hence the long slow ride...
Being a northern boy I'm no gator expert but that looks like a real giant to me. Congrats

Charlie, you are correct! the Gator measured 11' and he weighed 285lbs! We could not pull him in the boat, when we got to the boat ramp, we hooked a come-a-long to him and winched him over the side into the boat!
well Fred that is one Awesome gator well done.
Oh man , bucket list for me , Congratulations all around...
,,Sam,,
Great stuff.....I really need to look into this as I live close enough to gators to get this done in one of either 4 states.
Thanks for sharing guys!!!
That's an awesome trophy!
Benjy and I ground up 25 1.5lb bags of meat, and my wife Shirley and I made 27lbs of different kinds of sausage with the rest. Thats right, after the 25 bags we still had enough to make all that sausage! I tried just frying some unground meat up to try, but it was like chewing a boot. Gave what we just could not eat to my dogs and the Lab looked at me with this 'What the heck did you give me?' look in his eyes. Had hot sausgae and eggs for dinner a couple nights ago and it was pretty good.
