All wounded animals are dangerous! Be extra cautious with them.
I shot a big MO doe a few years ago, and she whirled at the shot. The arrow cut her shoulder without penetrating, and embedded in her neck, partially paralyzing her. I was carrying three broadheads, and the followup shots were deflected by the multiflora rose she fell in. In desperation I approached closer with my knife in hand, but she was too aware and kept turning her front end toward me so that I couldn't stick her without getting in range of her front hoofs. She was trying to get me! I was carrying a brass head walking cane, and I beaned her in the middle of her skull with it. I'm glad there was no video of that. It was brutal. I don't know anyone else who has killed a deer with a walking cane.
Thats a new one ^^^.
When i was a kid bailing hay for a neighbor we heard some dogs chasing deer and he grabbed an old axe handle intending to brain the first dog to break cover. He heard them coming and swung for the fences.....he ended up hitting a small spike right behind the ears....killed it like a gunshot.
