Between Bary Wensels Crooked Hat Chronicles and Monty Brownings book Bowhunting A Passion for Life, 2 better values cant be had! For those of you who have not read or marveled at the photos in this book, you are truly missing out. A great Christian example this man is. You can find it on his website. Over 300 pictures.

I absolutely love Monty's book. Worth the price for just the pictures, let alone the stories!

Monty is a world class bowhunter one of the best we ever had. Great writer too

I have read both and they are great. I go back to both books and re-read certain chapters especially with hunting season right around the corner. In the forward to Monty's book he mentions His hat is off to the hardworking Dads out there that are raising children and hopes they live vicariously through his book. That paragraph grabbed me from the beginning as I am raising 3 girls. Would love to meet him someday.

It is a fantastic book! Well worth the money. Great stories and great pictures.

I met him briefly at etar last year. I went to order the book and was having trouble with paypal option. I sent them an email and it wasn't long I received a response. They said send them my phone number and they would call me. So low and behold, im driving down the road and get a phone call from South Carolina. When i answered, it was Monty Browning! We talked for about 13 min and 37 seconds.😁 What a nice guy. It never seems to amaze how approachable these stick bow legends are, its kind of like they are real people 😀

Monty is a fantastic story teller, and has lived through some extraordinary tales. His book "Bowhunting," is only a small look into the greatness and truth of a spiritual man. Barry's writing in "Once Upon a Tine," are some of the most interesting stories that could ever happen to any one person, let alone one of our beloved bowhunters. Reading books seems to be something not embraced by many of our youth, but given the chance, they will enjoy these two awesome reads. Mike

Both of those books are among the most treasured in my collection. They both have incredible stories and tell them well. And as interested as I am to hear about their hunts they both are just as engaged when you tell them yours. It is people like these(and it is common) that make traditional archery much more than a hobby.
If you don't have these books you are truly missing out.

Like many I have had the pleasure of meeting Monty, many times and he is always a great classy guy. Love bowhunting and a great teller of adventure. His book is a modern classic and should be in every traditional archer's library.

I bought both books-the regular edition and the leatherbound edition. Even had Annie sign both books!
Monty is a fine man for sure.

There might be some confusion regarding this thread. No problem but my book is titled "Once Upon A Tine" with the subtitle "The Crooked Hat Chronicles." Whereas, my new two-disc/ 4 hour DVD set is titled, "The Crooked Hat Chronicles" and subtitled "Over Half A Century of Personal Bowhunting Footage." One's a hardcover 350 page book and the other is a two-disc DVD set. Sorry for any misunderstandings. Thanks. BW

Absolutely Barry, I was talking about the 4hrs. of video for $20.00! I have your book as well Once upon a tine. I was just shedding some light on two great bargains that are absolutely amazing. It is very obvious that You and Monty kept the price low on purpose and I think that says alot about your character. thanks again
