Title: Sheepeater Obsidian meets Robin Hood
Post by: Brent Rudolph on March 26, 2008, 10:15:00 AM
So, I was tuning this bow up for Pedro from Chile. Thought I would shoot a final five round group, but figured I would just stop at three. I think it is shooting just fine the way it is set up. Here at Black Mountain Bows, we are trying to dispel the myth that short bows aren't accurate.

Sweet bow and not bad for a lefty using a right handed bow.

Now THAT'S what I call a GROUP!!   :notworthy:

I think you can claim the myth "officially" dispelled.

I have to confess I'm not a good enough shot to show off my Sheepeater to that extent, but I'll concur that it is a great, handy, efficient, effective, snappy, and accurate little bow!!

I can only hope that Pedro gets as much fun from his Obsidian as I have from mine.

Congratulations on the fine bows you make.

Daryl

Did you shoot that left handed or right handed?  haha  I've seen you do both.   :notworthy:

Not to get off the subject, but that is not a bad view in the background.

Thats just a big photograph backdrop Brent is posing in front of. He actually lives in Harlem.

What I'm not sure of is how he hammered that arrow into the back of the other one without breaking the nock. Must've used a rubber mallet.

The shooting is great, but I love the view.

He did break the nock. There are three arrows there.

OK guys for the stats. I live 35 miles north of Yellowstone National Park North Gate. The mountains behind me are of the Absaroka/Beartooth National Forest range. The largest national forest in the states. There are many peaks in this range in the 10,000 foot level. I have 20 acres that with a house and my shop.......thanks for the help Bear. Taxes are killer as the view, so you all enjoy! Either that or I'm in Harlem, either way, I aint tellin! AND, I am still a little miffed about the neighbor planting a house right in the middle of my view. Actually, being white, it is pretty camouflaged in the winter.

Bear, here is the trick, drill a pilot hole and work up to it.

Brent:

One of these days I need to get Sylas over to shoot with you.  He is absolutely shooting the lights out with that little bow you made for him.  I don't think any robin hoods for him yet but he was hitting an empty 12 ga. hull three times in a row at 25+.

With you on that one Doug, I aint sure I could see an empty hull at 25 yards anymore. You bet Leo, bring the lad over, if he goes to beating me too bad, I'll slice his left elbow tendon. According to Bill Murrey on Caddy Shack, "he'll push everything off to the left, never play the game again."

Doug sent me some pictures of Silas over some rabbits, Head shots!?

Too bad you can't make it to the banquet.  Maybe I'll have to figure out a way to mail you a couple of those Primanti sandwiches.  Spring turkey is just around the corner here in PA so I'll soon be breaking out the blind and the Sheepeater for some serious backyard practice. I'll post a pic of the bird when I get it.

I bet Pedro's got his knickers in a twist wondering when you are gonna una55 this bow and get it out to him!  :readit:

Nice shooting!

Nice shootin and beautiful backdrop. That view would make it hard to concentrate on a spot. When you get to WV, I want to try one of those and if I can do that.

I have been to Livingston fishing a few times.  That paradise valley is beautifull. Stayed in that KOA near pine creek. That little Mill creek is a gem as well.  I know a pastor of a small baptist church out there too.  Billy Carter, he is originally from NC.  Top notch guy.  Anyway beautifull place and nice shooting.

Well Hatch, you been playing in my back yard. I live about four miles from the KOA, and yes Mill Creek is a special place in the world. I won't even ask you how many Cutts you caught. Crazy isn't it? You were also in premier bear country. Mill Creek drainage is a real hotspot for blacks and the occasional griz. Up the West Fork of Mill Creek, a griz marks the forest service sign at the trail head every spring with a paw print. Within a few weeks after he leaves his signature, black bear hunting gets real good. According to the local biologist, there are more colored blacks in that drainage than anywhere else in the state consisting of blonds, cinnnamon, chocolate, full black, marked blacks, and my youngest son harvested a true brown two seasons ago.

And you are right Brother Carter is one of the top notch guys here. Anyone coming here that is looking for Sunday worship opportunities should check out Mountain Springs Baptist Church.

Brent - What are the specs on the bow?  I see 60 @ 28 but not the length.

Thanks,

Skinner

I thought I recognized that scenery! LOL

I lived in the Tom Miner basin for a short time in the mid 90's between Livingston and Gardiner.

I have a buddy still living in Livingston.
Nice bow and pictures!

Skinner,

The bow is 50" AMO, 47" string.

Matt, you left some good elk country in the Basin.

Looking forward to the Obsidian, Brent. I think it's one of the best grips in the business.

Turkeys are gobblin' their heads off here and looking forward to getting Turkey Thumper tuned and put to good use.
