I am thinking about ordering a new bow and I need some opinions on what kind of woods to get. I want something smooth, but still have some speed. Thanks in advance for the help!!!
I don't think the wood matters enough to tell the difference. I hear bamboo is noticeably smoother and faster though.
talk to your bowyer. He knows what works well with his designs.
Yep talk to the bowyer. Generally bamboo cores are smoother and faster then maple cores. Remember that veneers add or subtract no performance. They are just pretty.
The bamboo thing is why Jason does it standard in the Orions.
Good luck in your decision.

I have ordered, and purchased two bows this month. I ordered my "whip" in February, and Dan asked me a number of questions, he seemed to know exactly what I was looking for by the questions he asked. The way I answered those questions, helped him design the bow that I was looking for.
On my second bow, I did the same thing from Bob Lee, Rod was very helpful, asked a lot of the same questions, he wanted to make sure I had the right bow, because I was going for a smaller size, shooting inside of a blind. And I had some unusual, at least they hadn't done it before, requests, it's taken a little bit longer, just a few days, but they are accomplishing everything I asked.
From above a giving you good advice, talk to the persons making your bow, tell him or her your desires, your expectations, and what you'd like to accomplish with the bow, tell them how you shoot, three under, split, size of the game, and most of all known over bow yourself.
You never regret it, ordered the bow, just like as if, it's the only bow you ever have again. Make it everything it can be for right now. That way you leave nothing out.

Morrison makes foam core limbs that are as smooth and stable as anything out there.
