Anyone here tinker with Persimmon Oil, as an attraction for early season Whitetail? I'm curious if it is used mostly by the Southern hunters? I have used it in past seasons, with it applied to cotton balls, but something must be eating the Cotton balls ,as they don't stick around long. I have never witnessed the culprits that are taking or eating the scent based cotton ball's,but I would not put it past a coon.Your thoughts ?

Take some film canisters or used pill bottles put a few holes in the bottom and sides . Put a hole in the lid and attach a string and put lid back on hang from a limb high of the ground. Used to do that years ago with buck lure. Here in Pa. we will get arrested for baiting. No food based scents can be used. Good luck.

Instead of putting it out on a cotton ball that can be taken just smear it on the tree. Then critters can get a taste without removing it all at once.

I did not know that John (LB58).I will have to read up on that.Is this a fairly new law? Pa laws are crazy. You can hunt in the middle of food plot, but no scents that are food based? Just like No Sunday hunting. :dunno:

Pretty sure Terry. Check the game laws. We had a club member get checked 2 years ago and he had some of that vanilla based aersol cover scent in his pack and the WCO said if he wanted to he could fine him because it has vanilla in it. I agree we can plant food plots but can’t use food based lures. That’s good old Pa. for ya.
