I didn't know what forum section to add this one, so Mods move it if another is better. I figured with hunting season around the corner someone would be thinking about the same thing we did last summer. Its hot in early season and how do you self process in this hot weather? So we built a walk in cooler and I designed an AC controller for about $70 where the coolbot would have cost us $330. The story with parts list can be found here. https://archeryrob.wordpress.com/2017/11/07/deer-cooler-with-a-diy-coolbot-clone/ (https://archeryrob.wordpress.com/2017/11/07/deer-cooler-with-a-diy-coolbot-clone/)

Cool, now just a bit more work for the finishing touch and make it where it will convert to a smokehouse when your done cooling and I'll take one!
The smokehouse is separate. Its on the same blog if you look for it.
Here is a pic before I built the heat bypass
Very impressive.

Cool lookin rig.
I have a question: I have been under the impression that using a standard air conditioner might cause problems since it "cools" by the removal of moisture while a real "cooler" (beer or commercial grocery) uses a different system that does not dry the air.
Any thoughts ? Just asking. We built one years ago using insulated walls and door and a used beer cooler system. Worked great.
We don't use it steadily. It does want to ice up, but that is where the JCI freeze sensor comes in. It cuts the compressor and the fan blows 24/7 and de-ices the coils until it warms enough and the compressor runs again. I would say it probably is not a full time solution, but we are only keeping deer from going bad in the warm weather and it does that plenty well.
I can't answer the physics of the cooling. The coil ices up, but I can't say its leaving the room, but to maybe drip on the stone floor.

Thanks for the info....
Building a walk-in cooler is on my todo list! Thanks for the info!
