Title: Question for Pappy or other Twin Oaks Bowhunter member
Post by: Js slow bow on August 02, 2018, 08:32:33 AM
About two years ago I bought a bow at an antique shop that is about ten miles from where the Tennessee Classic is held. In the Sango area.  I'm trying to find the history on it,if anyone knows. I think the shop got it at an estate sale. It's a 66" 55# Martin Vision longbow. I'm hoping the previous owner is a member of Twin Oaks. Thanks

I know Pappy is at Elm Hall this week. Hopefully someone else from Twin Oaks will see this.

The Twin Oaks guys deal with a lot of selfbows, don't know about glass lam bows.

Eric I hadn't thought about them being big on selfbows. I know they have a nice shop and work area set up to work on selfbows. I bet most have glass lam bows also. I just wanted to find out a little about the bow before I attempt to reduce the poundage of it. It's to heavy for me it's marked 55# but scales 59#. I would like to get it around 50#. I've been reading on The Bowyer's Bench to get a idea how to that. I will post over there on how to do that before I attempt it.

Tricky business dropping that much poundage on a glass bow. I would sell it and buy one in your poundage range.

Thanks to Eric and Pat for your wisdom and help. When I think of you I think of the last part of the third Trad Gang goal, good folks that have their hearts and soul poured into the sport.
