I was just surfing through the big auction site. When a guy makes the statement, "I'm selling this bow because I need to thin down my collection". Does anyone believe them???????
Personally I can't have too many bows!!!!!
Aw, come-on, bentstick. Three years ago I had over 30 bows. Now I have two (only one that I can still shoot) and am much happier for it; at least I keep telling myself that!

I believe it.
I thin down my collection every time I see another one I want to buy....(or my wife will let me buy). :goldtooth:
Uh oh! :knothead:

I believe it. There are people here that have shot the same bow for decades. There are people here that shoot one bow for competition; and another for hunting. Some have backup bows for each.
Then there are guys that like having several bows for whatever they are doing just for the fun of it.
There are also people that want to try different bows all the time; shoot a bow a couple times and pass it on to someone else.
The person your talking about might be lying; but the idea that people buy and sell bows: just to see how they shoot--- is a pretty heavy theme here.
I have benefited many times from this :)

Same here. That's the only way I get to try 'new' bows. :D
Believe it. I'm the official poster boy. With limited resources and unlimited desire to try bows. I either sell or trade to acquire new ones or I go without. Doesn't mean I don't have a core set of bows that are permanent residents though.
I used to never get rid of a bow. After a while they pile up pretty fast. :D Now I look at the piles and see bows I have not even strung in years.I slowly started getting rid of some to make more room for the next ones.My goal one day is to be down to about 4 bows that I shoot often for different things. So yes I can see the point in thinning a collection down. ;)
No way around it-there are only so many pegs and eventually you run out of places the wife will let you put them! And then it is time to thin............
Well, I guess you made me a believer. I won't be so skeptical when I see that again. I guess I need to start buying more bows so I can thin mine out too.LOL That'll be my excuse for buying another one anyway.
Thin down the collection! Heaven forbid! Uh, yeah I do it too. :archer:
I usually regret selling any of them, but I do sell them off.Have to be able to pay for another one some way.Just sold 2 and still trying to sell another to pay for a Silvertip that's due to be finished in Oct.
Look at his feedback....that's the most important piece of information.
I'm one that loves to take three different bows out for one shooting session. I know I'd be a better shot if I just stuck with one, but like Popeye, "I yam what I yam..."
Recently, I've been parting with bows on an almost weekly basis because my draw weight capability changed, and that is still going on, but normally, as someone mentioned above, the pegs are the limitation... two rows of pegs, 18 in each row. When I start haveing to tripleup on the pegs, or move bows off the front row to get out the ones on the back row, it's time to thin.
Now that I"m trying some recurves, I'm even more limited (OK... deep sighs and a chorus of "poor you's")... I have to skip pegs between recurves so they'll hang neat... Fortunately, my recurves are mostly tending toward ILF, so I'll be collecting just limbs instead of whole bows :^)

I believe it, I do it myself.I have a sickness that when I see a bow I neeeeed,(yes need, some are necessities to my well being)LOL I sell what I have to to get the funds to buy.
I believe... I'll have another drink !

My herd is getting pretty thin. I used to have close to 25 bows. Now I only have 2 and have a Black Widow on order. Proly the last one I'll buy for a while.
I stand humble!!!!!! :notworthy:
I love to shoot different bows. I like to take 2 or 3 out at a time as well.
I do!! I love shooting and trying a bunch of different bows then when I think I have to many I just sell a few. Then when I have money I always end up buying another even though I just thinned the heard. It is a vicious cycle!!
Yep. I just sold three; two that were on the outside edge of my draw weight comfort zone, one that simply turned out not to fit my pistol. None of them were getting used much if at all.
Will be using the proceeds to buy a new guitar with some extra left over to put into my "New Hunter II Riser Fund". Hopefully see it in the next couple months...
