Post by: Hoosierarcher88 on July 05, 2018, 08:01:33 AM
[ You are not allowed to view attachments ] has anybody used one of these blanks for a bow build and if so what style longbow did you make? Ive thought about making a hill style bow but i dont have the tools to cut and sand fadeouts

I think you'll still have to do the fine sanding to get the fades feathered out correctly.

I figured there would need to be some fitting and sanding to get everything perfect. Do you think this would be possible with hand tools such as a sanding block

If you absitively posilutely can't cut and sand one yourself it's a good way to go.  One way to feather them out is to lay it on a flat smooth surface back down and feather with 60 grit sandpaper glued to a flexible backing about six or eight inches long.  Take your time and check your work.

You could also enquire with a supplier like Kenny and see if he might do it for you.  Advantage being that you could select other lengths, etc.

That kind of riser is perfect for a hill style.  You can make it flat, reflexed or string follow just depends on how you design the form.

I've used these in the past and they come ready to glue. I never had to touch them up at all.
