Title: Cedar Shaft Help
Post by: Deadbolt on March 21, 2008, 08:28:00 PM
Sorry for all these questions guys...

My brother like I mentioned before is having me make up some custom cedars for him but I'm unsure of his longer draw length.  He draws a hair over 28.5" and his bow is Bob Lee Hunter 58" 42# @ 28".

He currently shoots GT 3555 w/ 145g up front cut 29.5".

Now after see'ing my cedar shafts he wants to try some out but I dont know what spine to get him.  I was thinking 50-55# Cedars cut 29.5"-30" and he wants to shoot 160g tips.

What spine would you guys suggest for him?

50-55# should work fine.  Is that Lee cut to center?  If so, could even go higher, i.e., 60#.

Figure 44 lb for actual draw wt, add 10 lb for 30" arrow length, 5 lb for center shot and another 5 for 160gr points I come up with 64 lb and would recommend at least 65-70 spine shafts.  Start a little long when tuning, but I doubt that he will be overspined.  Generally, it's easier to deal with too much than not enuf.
