Specifications for the bow are: Osage selfbow, Right handed, 58# @ 28" (it is drawn to 29" in the picture), 60" nock to nock, Big Horn Sheep Horn tip overlays, and Python snakeskin backing. I built this bow last spring but only had eight coats of Tru-oil on it until this week. I wasn't fully satisfied with the tiller on this bow and built another one to donate but messed up and it came in at 48#'s. The bow now has a total of 14 coats of Tru-oil. It started with three inches of heat induced reflex and ended up with about 1/2" when first unstrung.
Nice looking bow Walt.
I wish you hadn't done that Walt...now I gotta go to the bank before next weekend. Beautiful work  Doc
Beautiful!
How can I bid on that?
Oh My God! That may be the most beautiful bow I have ever seen Mr. Walt. WOW!
Very nice Walt! Good luck bidding Doc.
great looking bow!

:notworthy:
That bow is so purdy it would almost make me want to start shooting self bows! Joseph
If all it takes is a convention to receive a bow like that then I will have to hold a convention.
Very Nice, Walt. Thank you for sharing the pictures.
Thanks for the compliments, I made it for a good cause. Here is the full draw picture:

Real nice Walt. Really like the look of those skins and tips.
For those of us who won't win the bid, i have two questions. Do all your bows look that good? that is really something special. And how much do you sell them for? I have not had good luck with osage, but I still want one to hunt with, now more than ever.
Im gonna guess Burmese python
chrisg
Wow, that's a beauty Walt! Well done! ;) :clapper:

The Bow Walt donated to PBS for the Salt Lake Convention in 2006 won the prestigious Jerry Pierce Bowyers Contest. This one looks like another contender.Beautiful donation, awesome bow. You'll have to bid high on this one guys, It won't go cheap!

Chrisg, I think you are correct, but don't' know for sure. I know they are python and believe they are Burmese. I got them from Mike Yancey at Pine Hollow Bows but unfortunately he is unable to get them anymore.
Larry, not all of them look as nice as this one, but most of them wouldn't be considered ugly either. I haven't sold any of my bows, once I traded one for a custom fly fishing pole (which I gave to one of my brothers for his birthday), but 90% of them are given to friends, relatives, and different hunting organizations. I am a little too meticulous (my wife calls me anal retentive) and spend as much time, if not more, finishing the bow then I do getting it tillered. If I sold these bows based on an hourly wage, I'd make less then the minimum wage, so I keep this as a fun hobby. If you want to buy a good selfbow talk with Mike Yancey at Pine Hollow (a sponsor here), Mike or Jason Westvang at Drayad Bows (also a sponsor here), Gary Davis at Rattlestick bows, or Eric Krewson a regular member here, they all make quality selfbows for sale.
Lenny, give me a call, we need to pulls some treestands tomorrow.
Very nice bow! I need to get started on one to donate to to the Alabama Society of Traditional Bowmen to be auctioned off at their Children's Hospital Benefit shoot at the end of April.
The guy who won the bidding for the one I donated last year took it to the Tn Classic the following week and beat all of us seasoned selfbow shooters with it. He is one heck of a shot with any bow he shoots.
