New format for 2018 IBO Traditional World Championship, Pipestem, WV, July 20-22, 2018
The IBO mission is to offer a true world class competitive event that also promotes fellowship of family and friends.
Beginning this year we will offer four shoot times to complete 30 IBO World championship targets. Shoot times will be 8:00 AM and 11:00am Friday and Saturday….shotgun start!
“Everyone" (except Cubs and Eagles) shoots final 30 targets Sunday, 8:00AM shotgun start. Awards immediately following.
There are two, thirty target ranges ….A & B.
Classes shot on course A – REC, RU, TH, FREC, FRU, STRAD
Classes on course B – MLB, SLB, SB, LB, FLB, YU
Cubs & Eagles will shoot with their guardians on either course.
Also new this year:
Archers may shoot 2 classes, (a class on each range), but may only choose one class/one bow to compete in on Sunday.
Bowhunter Challenge format stays the same.
In addition to the "Trad Tech Sadie Hawkins" Team Event, and the 3Rivers Showcase Shootdown event, we are excited to present a new event the "Last Man Standing".
In order to preserve the integrity of the sport of traditional archery, the IBO is continually striving to enhance their tournament format. We look forward to a fantastic event this year in West Virginia.

The peer grouping does not change. On Sunday, archers will continued to be peered as before: 1-5, 6-10, 11-15, etc...for the championship day. The invite for all to shoot on Sunday adds to the IBO Championship experience for all archers, and promotes more archers participating and shooting their bows. Archers will be able to come for the weekend and stay until the award show. In addition, all of the IBO courses, and rounds are shot in "like" peer groups, with "like" bows...you will be grouped by an IBO official to shoot any of the IBO courses, hence the shotgun shoot times of 8am and 11am. The Bowhunter Challenge range is for socializing, friends, family, etc. and you may group yourselves.

Wish I could make it. Wish I could still shoot well enough to justify the time and expense!
Sounds like great improvements!!!!!

Also, Arvin Weaver has announced he will once again sponsor the "Self Bow Shootdown" on Saturday evening at the Trad World in Pipestem. Thank you Arvin for your sponsorship. This is a great event featuring the self bow shooters.

Another great change to the IBO Trad World for you to know. The 3Rivers Showcase Shootdown will include the top 16 men from the white stake on the Bowhunter Challenge range (BHC), the top 16 men from the orange stake on the BHC range, and the top 16 women on BHC range. So this year, there will be 3 winners in the 3 Rivers Showcase Shootdown event. Can't wait!

The "Last Man Standing" is a new event compliments of the Traditional Bowhunters of California. It is great as any level shooter can participate and win prizes or cash. The host/MC will call a shot, if your arrow is in the called area, you move on, if not, you pay the pot to continue on in the game, say $5-$10, or whatever the host/MC calls. The host may call out of the ordinary arrow placement to win cash/prize etc. This will go on for some time, as archers will drop out, and soon it gets down to 2 or 3, maybe 5 archers, as the ante$$$ to continue, goes up. The winner will take all the money left in the pot, and other awards allotted. It is a big hit at Chamberlain shoot in California. So fun the IBO wanted to have it at Trad Worlds. Very fun for all involved.

Where can I find out about camping? On site, or nearby?
Also, I may go to just shop the vendors. Is there a facility entry fee just to watch?
Thanks.

Over the years, I’ve been to several Traditional Rendezvous’, local shoots, and state shoots. Since I semi-retired the last couple years I’ve taken in our states IBO circuit and the Traditional World shoot last summer in Clarksville, TN. I don’t shoot very well and most likely will never compete with anyone, but I do like to shoot and meet new folks.
I can honestly say this IBO Traditional World shoot at Pipestem was the most enjoyable archery related weekend I’ve experienced. I tip my hat to the IBO for a fabulous weekend, at a fabulous venue with PERFECT weather to boot and from my perspective, all the events went off like a well-oiled machine.
I couldn’t believe the weather; the forecast was for rain all day Saturday and Sunday. No rain at all Fri. and Sat. and it started to sprinkle today, but only as the last shooters were leaving the range. Temps were in the upper 60’s in the mornings and mid to upper 70’s during the day. I guess that's why they call it, "Almost Heaven, West Virginia."

Was a goodun. talked to the locals, they all said same thing "this Mt always pushes weather north or south around us".
Had a great time, will be back. Loved the smaller crowd too.
