Title: leather grip care.
Post by: Blessed One on April 10, 2018, 09:50:19 PM
I just got a bow that has a leather grip. I have owned many bows but never one with a leather grip. I need suggestions on how you care for the leather to keep it from getting slick and dry.

Thank you,
Dan

I am trying Mink Oil on a leather grip. It was recommended in a thread I saw on another site. After a couple years the leather hasn't dryed out enough to crack. It doesn't keep the leather from being dirty.

I use Johnson's paste wax on all my leather and beaver tails- it works great and keeps the handles "grippy".

I put some elk hide on my grip to absorb the sweat from my hand and dont' treat it just for that reason.  Replace every year.

I don't treat mine as I want them to absorb some of the sweat in the summertime.  I just replace as needed.
