The winter in Buffalo is sometimes way too long…it is actually snowing again right now. My younger brother and I are kids at heart and we are always coming up with fun archery games to play in my basement range (“reindeer games” as our wifes call them). Shooting our 3-D deer and turkey targets every day sometimes gets boring so we try to come up with other "targets". Among some of our reindeer games, we play speed arrows, trying to shoot a certain number of arrows in a set time at my kids old stuffed animals, we have made an enlarged dart board to play 301 and cricket, and grided out a tic-tack-toe board on a swinging stuffed square bag target...I don’t think I can describe some of the others as we seem to make up new rules every time we play (or when I’m loosing).
What kind of fun archery games do you play? Based on the recent weather trend, we may be stuck in the basement a little longer than anticipated! (Yes, we do shoot in the snow a lot...the cedar arrows we lose are usually pretty warped come spring!)

When we had a back stop sized target in our basement, we practiced on bouncing pingpong balls and swinging buttons on thread, and miniature farm animals on a hot wheels track.

I have a friend who invented a "Bow Baseball" game. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow evening.

This would be an outdoor game, but has anyone tried the 'golf' idea of putting a target way out across a field, then seeing who can hit it in the least amount of shots?

They have paper targets that you can buy that have games such as poker, golf and pool. example:the poker game has a target cover by different cards, you shoot five arrows each and the best hand wins. good games for limited distances and they really make you focus.

Cool ideas guys.

Darts, pretty cool and changes where you aim.

we have a game we do that is like a teeter-todder. we made a 4ft tall stand with a cross bar at the top that will swing up and down (sorry this is hard to describe). Attach a clay pigeon to each end of the swinging arm with a coat hanger. This is a team shoot---the first shooter hits one side of the swinging arm and if he breaks the clay pigeon, this causes a wt change and the other clay pigeon to fall. the second shooter trys to hit the falling target. I wish I had a photo of this--sorry. Get several teams together and put money in a pot---makes it interesting.
Great thread by the way--this should get interesting.

not really a "game" but you could make one up ...
run a string thru a tennis ball, knot on the bottom, hang the string from the ceiling or overhead (with a bag target behind)step back and give 'er a try...
