Hey fellows, I don't have smooth on, and I'm not ordering any for two sets of tip overlays. The material is buffalo horn to bamboo, what glue do you guys use? I have tight bond super glue and unibond. Any ideas? Also I put them on top, I don't cut and attach them at an angle.
-
Lots of guys use super glue. The unibond will work but ya gotta let it dry 24 hours.
-
My last BBH I used blue top gorilla glue Water buffalo horn to BB ,1000 arrows + no issues , I cleaned the area with acetone & sized the horn with thin CA !
-
Roy didn't tell you he used a nail gun on his tip overlays! :bigsmyl:

Thanks guys, I will try the unibond. I let that sit 24 hours before I mess with it any way.

A lot of times my tips are shaped in a way that I can’t really clamp them, so I’ve used super glue. I never think it’s going to hold up, but it has never failed me. If I can clamp them I use TB3. Unibond will surly work, it’s just more involved with mixing a special batch just for the overlays.
If all else fails, a Sheetrock screw through the middle works well. Roy taught me that

Oh sorry, forgot the question was about horn. I haven’t worked with horn yet.

What's ya waiting on, Benton....

I guess a decent price. Where are you guys getting your horn material? Knife scales on the auction site?
-
I got the full length slats on the auction and from a friend of mine , the cut off peaces last for lots of bows
