Found out my Javaman Helms Deep is on it's way to my house. :jumper:
I'm hopping to get it broke in with a bear harvest.
Couldn't find the old BQ12 thread so I started another one.
Hope to get some of the old posts repeated on this one.

Bow Doc probably cooked him up for supper. :biglaugh:
The last anybody saw of Fabio was when he was peaking in through the window watching Bow Doc cook. Maybe Bow Doc did cook him up and feed him to us.

Last year the third day of hunting I saw a sow with two small cubs. The cubs were small enough that I could have put one in a five gallon bucket.
When I got back to camp I was asked if I saw anything and I told about the sow and cubs.
Bow Doc spoke up and said " you should have shot one of those little ones and I could have made you an omelette. "
Got my Helms Deep yesterday.
Shot it today and it fits me perfect. [attachment=1][attachment=2][attachment=3][attachment=4]
Now to just get a nice bruin to cooperate. :archer:
Launch time is comeing up quickly. :bigsmyl:
Gonna be fun up Chair in Quebec no doubt...
Got the Helms Deep tuned in and it's ready for bear.
That'll work
Gary Hall is making me some special arrows for the occasion. He said they'd be here within a week.
Nice bow Graps , congrats looks like you are ready
I am signed up for week #1 of BQ 12 and PSYCHED!! More information and pictures if possible will feed and fan the flame!! Feel so lucky to be doing this at my age........real bucket list stuff!
Second weeker here, can't wait! Good luck to all of the first weekers! Get all of those little bears cleaned up and out of the way for us! LOL!
LD
Gary Hall sent me a pic of the arrows he'll be sending me for Bear Quest.
I think I need to put red tint on them.

No doubt! Pretty sweet!
You all are going to have a great time..........with spring so late the bruins should be really hungry. Practice your close shots..........
Wow, those arrows would go good with my new Helms Deep  :archer:

That's neat. It also looks very much like my Helms Deep.
This hunt is comeing up quickly. :archer:
Graps, kind of......mines bloody :biglaugh:
Hope to get mine bloody too.
Graps, you will.....Bear Quest is special, won't be the same without Bowdoc. I'm fortunate I had the opportunity to spend some special time with him over three hunts. The fourth his wife was ill and he was unable to make it. Good luck and shoot straight, looking forward to your tale of the hunt.
Two weeks from now us second week hunters will be perched in treestands waiting for a bear to make a fatal mistake.
I got butterflies in my gut already just thinking about it. The next two weeks at work are going to go SLOW.
To all you folks going.........best of luck and pick a spot on the black!!!!! Have fun and say a prayer for Bowdoc down by the lake.
I'm all anxious to get there, I've been shooting from my tent blind late in the evening to get the practice of shooting in low light. I
Made this hitch rack for the bear hunt so I can keep the mess out of my truck.[attachment=1]
Packing the truck-- seems like a lot of stuff for one old bear huntryx!
Will be there week 2 chauffeuring Sweka into camp. Can't wait. Been practicing short shots in low light from up high. That and swatting mosquitoes as part of my release.

Yeah, I will be on the ground and I have been shooting from my tent blind at 12 yards.
Oh, and the black flies here have been helping me to get used to having them in my face while shooting. :biglaugh:
Just got back home from our Aiken, SC farm with 3 horses and 5 dogs. Been thinking of y'all going to La Tuque, I know there will be lots of fun and comradery. Have fun and bring home a Big'n! tippit

[attachment=1] Great hunt! looking forward to all of the stories.
Safe trip for Tommy and all you hunters.
Shick
Good luck to all the first week guys and gals!
:archer2:
Good luck to all you Bear Questers....be safe.
This hunt sounds like a blast. Good luck everyone! Looking forward to lots of stories and pictures!
I just got a Go Pro camera, I hope I can get it working.
I would like to get some video of the hunt.
The time is upon us.
First week hunters are there now and I'm sure some good stories have already been made.
I'm packed and ready to go for week 2. Dave Grant will be coming to my place tomorrow evening, then it's off to La Tuque Friday morning. We're meeting up with Graps along the way and all of us are staying over in La Tuque Friday before we head into camp on Saturday.
Tomorrow will be a long day at work for sure.....
Headed up to meet up with Jay tomorrow, meet up with Brian Friday on the way to La Tuque. Friday night in La Tuque. This is gonna be epic!

Things have been crazy, and I didn't get to pack ahead of time like I would have wanted. But there's a bunch of junk in the truck and hopefully it's close enough to what I'll need. Busting out of work at noon tomorrow to head to Sweka's. See everyone in La Tuque Friday night or Saturday morning!
-Dave
Where is BQ taking place and the outfitter? I tried searching, but nothing came up except this thread.
The hunt takes place in Quebec and is set up here on Trad Gang. Tom Phillips is the head honcho and does a great job . It is a great time with many bear sightings and shots. I shot the bear in my avatar there in 2015.
I just finished the first leg of the journey.
I'll be in LaTuque tomarrow evening.
Breaking camp now. 5 of 8 tags filled in week 2, plus a dead blue barrel. Stories and details to come from others once home I'm sure.
Ok guys. You've kept us waiting long enough. Do we get to hear some bear hunting tales ? Or should we head to La Tuque and examine bear scat for remains? Impatiently waiting. Tony Z.
