Meet Chris L. He was entered by longbow rookie. I'll let them tell the story so I don't say more than I should, but here are some pics of a happy young man.

Good Going!
Very nice! :clapper:
I can think of no better way to insure the survival of this passtime (shooting bows and bowhunting), than by the generousity of it's practicioneers. And I believe that the dividends are greatest when that generousity is focused toward the youth. This is an excellent thing that we must all do in our own way.

Thanks guys! We're in school now but we'll post some details later during a break. Chris can fill you in on how humbling he found his first shooting experience. We had a blast!
Brett: Very well said. I'll echo your kind words in regards to David and everyone who has participated. Chris and I are proud be associated with all of the wonderful folks here at Trad.
Fred: I asked Chris to come over and read your comments. You made his day! We'll share a funny story with you about that pic. You'll appreciate it.
Unfortunately, we have to get some work done. We'll check back in later.

The items Chris received were all donated by three members here. I just pointed them in his direction. SO the credit is their's.
Hey guys: There goes David, being humble again! You the man Dave!! A huge thanks to those members who donated and provided Chris the opportunity to join traditional archery. Chris will be in touch with you guys personally.
Background and story: Chris L. is a student in my 8th grade English class. I have had Chris since 6th grade and have seen him progress in many ways. When I read the post regarding the youth giveaway I immediately thought of him. He's a hard working, positive, and very humble young man. This is not something that would have happened without you all.
However, like many middle school students he was experiencing a bit of an attendance issue. Well, as soon as I mentioned that I had written to David on his behalf he has not missed a single day of school!!! So, I think you can all clearly see the power and positive influence that trad archery has had on this young man already.
Pics were from his first day of shooting: Story to follow.

Wally, when you going to post a thread on the young man you've helped out?
First day of shooting: We left school and headed to shoot. After stringing up his new recurve we went out back. My uncle came over to shoot with us and offer some tips. He did a great job helping Chris with his stance, anchor, etc. Good work Uncle Rob!
"The first couple of shots were very tough! My shots were hitting all over the target. After a break, I pulled back and released and made a decent shot. This is cool!" Chris
He kept looking at me after each shot and saying "wow, I always thought it looked a lot easier." I said, that's the beauty of this sport. It's going to be a lifetime of learning. He really enjoyed being challenged and kept telling me how he was going to practice and get better.
The funny story behind the shooting pic: after I took the picture I showed it to Chris and he said, "Wow, I kind of look like I know what I'm doing." We both cracked up!!
Shot some more but once the form really started to go we quit for the night. Mom even got involved and had some food waiting for us.
We have a short vacation beginning today. Tomorrow, I'm picking Chris up and we're heading to the archery shop to get some arrows cut to length for him.
I don't want to write a novel here but this has been a great experience for Chris, myself and a bunch of other folks who are close to us. There aren't really sufficient words to sum up something like this. Chris came up with a great idea to show Dave and the members how grateful he is, so stay tuned for that. Cool idea!!
Thanks to all!! We hope to share some huntig pics in the future!
Don't think I forgot you Pop! My dad got involved as well and bought Chris a set of arrows and field points. Thanks bud.
Christian
Is your Dad a member here also Chris?
No Dave....he just wanted to contribute something.
Another kid with a bow and a smile. Great job Tradgangers. Where are you guys located? Archery is just getting stronger and stronger. Hey Chris L., you thinking about shooting when you're in school studying? I know I think about it when I'm working.
