Will be at the Wall in about 10 days to visit a couple of buddies. Been there once many years ago. Don't know if I am looking forward to it or not but it is something I have to do, at least one more time before I check out for good.  Also going to the Marine Corps museum to spend a little money.lol

I have been there twice. Pretty sobering place. Makes me appreciate my good fortune.

Been once and it was hard for me as I try to keep my memories deep. Didn't work there as I thought of those who gave all.

Sorry to say that I haven't been there yet, but it will be a top priority for 2017.  I have a framed print that the USPS had issued and it's hanging among my treasured archery memorabilia.

I've gone twice. Came home without a scratch. A childhood friend wasn't so fortunate. I've looked his name up both times. Laurence Heckman USMC. It is a sobering place for sure as are the Korean and WW II memorials.
IMO every member of congress should be required to go the the Lincoln Memorial once a week and read all that is engraved there.

I have been a number of times. First time was in 1987. I felt real bad as I had forgotten some of my comrades who had died in Nam. Following year hooked up with a bunch from old Grunt outfit, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines. We have a reunion every two years. We go to D.C. often.
There are a few of my High School classmates on the wall as well. One from the "block".

My grandfather has a few friends there. He was a counter intelligence officer there at least twice that I know of. Once as an advisor when we weren't officially there.

took my wife up to the wall 2 years ago. Very moving to say the least. It was around fathers day, there was flowers with notes to all the fathers that are revered on that wall.

side note: Marine Corps museum is fantastic! they are doing a large addition to it now as well.

Albert, what was your grandfather's name and unit.  I might have known him from VN or Holabird.

Small world, Robert!  Sorry to be so slow in checking back here.

I Arrived at "The Nest On The Colgate" in December of 1965.  Started training in Jan 1966 and shipped to VN in June 1966.

Was in the delta for four months first in My Tho and then for one month at Can Tho until our headquarters billet was "blown" in both senses of the word.   :eek:    I spent a month at 3rd field hospital in Saigon then the rest of the tour in Hue.

Went from there to the 116th MI in DC for my last year and then gladly left the military behind!   :)

What part of Colorado are you in?
