Title: bow builders
Post by: adam on March 16, 2008, 08:29:00 PM
I'm getting ready to build another board bow and the board has decent grain but not the best. I was considering backing it with hickory but was wondering if i could use a parallel lam.?? If so what thickness would you use and do you think one wood would be better than another?? Thanks guys!!

Parallel lam is fine, you can taper it with sand paper or a scraper once it is glued to your core.
It is not that criticle, you can taper the the core to compensate the parallel backing too.
