Title: BW Asbell Grip?
Post by: Deadbolt on March 16, 2008, 07:30:00 PM
Just curious how similar that grip is to something like a bob lee grip?  I enjoy high profile and was wondering how high of a profile that grip actually is and if it is as beefy as something like a BL?  Or is the angle simlly higher with the same narrower grip?

Go to the Widow web site. I think they have pictures of the 2 on there site. It has a bit more palm swell than there regular grip. I shoot a high wrist and it feels lots better than the regular grip. Don't get me wrong, the regular grip feels good also, but the Asbell grip feels better. I have 2 one piece Widows, one of each.

I've shot both the MA and SA with regular grip and was not a fan.  I shot them and shot them well...but its not something I'd spend that much money for knowing every time i picked the bow up i thought of the "other" bow that was a bit better.

I just found out they had 3 grips...I fell in love with the bob lee grip and even told me brother the other day.  We were shooting and i was like if only BW would make a higher profile with a bit more palm face I'd buy a widow in a heart beat.  Well when he said that they do make the grip I figured it was to good to be true and i had to ask about it LOL.

Deadbolt, I'm not sure how "high" the Asbell grip is, but it is meatier in the palm section.  I liked the regular BW grip, but always wished there was more wood in the palm area.  When I shot the Asbell grip I was hooked felt perfect for me.

Question:  do you own a Bob Lee?  If so and this is the grip you want BW will make a copy of it.  $75.00, but if it were to make or break the bow for me I'd spend it.  Also, you can demo a Widow with the Asbell grip, will cost you shipping both ways around $60.00 and if you decide to buy one they don't charge you shipping on your order so your out $30.00.  Good luck on your quest...Mike

Here is a pic showing the difference between an Asbell grip and standard grip.  I still think you should handle one before ordering, just my opinion...Mike

The Asbell is not much different than the regular it has a bit more of a pam swel which rotates your lower hand or pinky slightly away from the bow is the best way to describe it. Shawn

I own a BW with the Asbell grip and a Bob Lee. Often shoot both as I did for a 3D shoot today. The Bob Lee has more meat and is wider that the BW. I think the Bob Lee is easier on my arthritis as it spread the load over a larger area. Two picture, sorry about quality, cheap digitals have very poor flash. Hope they help.
