My wonderful sister and brother in law are considering purchasing property in Chenango County N.Y.Are there any Trad Gangers from around this area that can fill me in on the area and hunting possibilities? There's a log cabin on 124 acres that's very reasonable. The Real Estate Agent is from Holmesville NY. Thanks folks!
Anyone?
They don't want any Jerzey people moving there... :smileystooges:
Tom, I don't know the area and if the hunting is good that way...They won't tell ya!! :scared:
That area would never be the same.......
Joe thats different....You came here...I still have family in New York... Hamlin area... Up by Buffalo & Rochester.
Hey bent,
I don't live there but my best friend does and i have hunted there on occasion. Tons of turkeys in this area!!!! Good deer pop with some 130's or better coming out of that area every year. Bear hunting is allowed in certain parts of the county, but not all, last year was the first year my friend has spotted bear on his property, they are expanding their range. All in all a nice place to hunt. There is a trad shoot later this year I think in May at a park up there, check the trad evnts page. Joe
Don't know the area, but as a NY land owner I can tell you that the taxes on 124 acres would probably get you a guided big game hunt every year somewhere in the lower 48.....
Deer and turkey hunting is pretty good state wide, with 124 acres of varying types of habitat you would be assured of some good hunting.
sent you a message on hunting in the area. Lots of good hunting in the area. There is a good traditional shooting going to be held in July at
Oxford rod and gun and this is a traditional only shoot.

i shot a monster 7 point dressed 198#[5 days before i weighed it]in the town of butternuts some years ago--still got family runnin those hills--plus gibertsville puts on a nice shoot
My Uncle Bob used to have a farm in Norwich. We killed quite a few deer up there.
There was state land down the road but we never hunted there.
Was the home of a camp my father was part of (Greene, NY) for 30+ years. Historically, it led the state in harvest, but suffered by change of land use in the recent 20 years. Used to be massive agriculture, now many vacant farms, and splitting up the land into little pieces.
Hot, muggy summers, but very pretty. Lots of game, but deer herd needs better management - but that is NYS for you.
Like bbassi said, taxes are a killer in New York.
Well Thanks for the info Folks! the sister came over and dropped off a bunch of stuff from Chenango County Realty yesterday I'll have to go threw the list and see if anything meets my fancy Joe Skipp you and Sal and the boys would be welcome of course!
