Are there some bows that just don't like Fast Flite, even though they were built to handle it.
One of my customs was built for and came with a Dyna 97 string. It was way too loud for me. I have tried everything, Bow Hush, Hush Puppies, different brace heights, string leeches, heavier arrows, strings from 2 other suppliers...etc etc. No improvement. Put a new B50 Dacron on it and bingo, quiet as a whisper. Would a different Fast Flite material make a difference? What else is available?

If it aint broke now dont fix it.Nothing wrong with B-50 if it works for you.
I read, I believe in one of the Traditional Bowhunter magazines, that Recurves are quieter with B-50, due to the slap on the limbs where the string hits the curves. The B-50 stretches with the shot more so it deadens the noise. But a Longbow is quiet with the Fast Flight string, due to not hitting the limbs. I believe it was G Fred Asbell's article in the magazine. I found my Recurves were quieter with B-50. Duane
I've seen both. I had a Bear takedown that was as quiet with D-97 as dacron, however, most other bows I've had like dacron the best. I get my dacron strings about a 1/2" longer than AMO and twist them up tighter than most folks do. Once shot a few times they don't move much at all. Bobby Lofton showed me that little trick many years ago.
After having shot both, I'm sold on Dacron for my recurves. The ones that currently have FF strings will be changed over next time they need a new string...

With the loss in speed from changing strings you could have just added more weight to the arrow with the good string and quietened the bow down.If not I would sell it. jmo
To me D-97 is one of the louder FF materials. Try a padded loop TS-1 string.
I just put a d97 string on a recurve that came with ts plus and it is as quiet or quieter. The new string is a 10 strand with padded loops.
to answer your original question... yes i think some recurves do not shoot as well w/ FF even if they were built for it.
i have two FF recurves from the same bowyer and one shoots good and quiet w/ FF and the other one just doesn't like the FF.
in my opinion, each custom bow is unique (even from the same bowyer) and will have it's own quirks.
as far as strings, the one that is the quietest goes on the bow. thats my preference
Try a different low stretch material. I had a chekmate that just didn't like 8125. I tried everything but it just wouldn't quiet down and it had a felt vibration through the riser when shot. I changed string material to D75 on a recommendation from a friend and it quieted right down and the vibration went away.
