Title: Glue for fletching on Carbon
Post by: snag on March 13, 2008, 04:58:00 PM
I have dipped some Carbon Express 150s in an "industrial strength" Sherwin-Williams paint. They came out real shiny. Looks great.  I fletched with Fletch-tite glue. Some of the feathers have come off though. Others are fine...?  Should I be using Duco?

More than likely. Sometimes the "glaze" of a shiny finish interfers with adhesion of the glue.
Try rubbing the fletch area with steel wool or Scotchbrite pad before glue up.

I was afraid of that. The other paints I have used for the crown seem to slightly dissolve and melts with the glue making a good adhesion...not this stuff. It dries hard too. Great stuff if the glue would only adhere to it!
