Title: Bowyer's Trad Bible
Post by: bigcountry on March 13, 2008, 03:04:00 PM
Are all volumns different?  What volumns are needed for beginning bow building?  Or what ones do you recommend?

Trad. Bowyer's Bible Vol.  1  is very good for bow design and tillering. The first 3 are different and amplify each other. Haven't got the 4th one yet. Ordered today.

The first one is a must. I'm just finishing up my first selfbow and have read all 3 in the process. They're all good but for me the first one was twice as good as the other two combined. At least for the beginner. Haven't seen the fourth one yet.

I agree, the first one is the best but I gotta say, the fourth one is right behind it. I'm about half way through it and am loving it. the chapter on bow woods is great. The first one will always be the best since it has such vital information on design and tillering.

I think you'd find information in all of them that will help in your quest to build bows.  It's a lot like taking college classes.  The first book would be the text for 101 and they progress in knowledge build one on top of the other until you get through Vol 4.
