Neighbor gave me what appears to be an old one-piece recurve, brown wood and brown glass limbs. Its 57", 52# and there is a white sticker that says "FASTCO" and underneath that is the usual handwritten info with a model name of "Sonic" with the "S" resembling the number "5". The string was ragged and seemed too short as I attempted to string it. I bought a new flemish string for it and shot it today and was really pleased with how well it shot and sounded (quiet).
Anyway, I would like any info on this unit. If it is a 'junker' please tell me.
Thanks,
SB

Just from what you said above makes it "Not a junker" in my book. Sorry I can't help you with a name, but if it shoots well to you, and sounds quiet too, I wouldn't lose sleep regarding what brand it is. If you post a picture, it may help someone here identify it better.
Are you sure it's "FASTCO" and not "FASCO" instead? I found this site with the Google search "FASCO" and "Sonic". Looks like FASCO might actually be a manufacturer of recurves.

All the best,

If it is a FASCO check out this site and others through google...

Yup, sorry guys, it is FASCO. I was just comparing with my 54# Widow and I have to say that it draws nearly as smooth, just a little more stacking.
Thanks very much.

Big Fred Anderson from Seattle, was the bowyer at Fasco about the time your bow was built.I would like to see a pic though. But I would have to say that Sonic was mid to late 1960's..Great bow and Fred spoke highly of that model.....bowdoc
They made the sonic hunter as early as 62 or 63.
If I remember it was at the lower end of their line but it was a nice bow...rosewood handle. I had a top of the line model 700 (1970-71??)that had a radical appearance but was a dream to shoot. All their bows were well made.
Great info, thanks. I threw some pics on my webshots. You'll see two rows of pics of bows, it is the second row, the brown bow.
