Yesterday I had a group of four does come by about half hour before sun down. I was lucky enough to get a shot at this one. It was a real steep quartered away shot and I was concerned that I hit too far back. The deer didn't take off running and just trotted a bit, stood then walked off. I decided to leave and come back in the morning.
After following a not so great blood trail I found the deer 100 yards from where I shot. I was very relieved as this is only my 5th deer and I'm not too experienced at tracking yet. It turns out it was a button buck with one half inch antler and nothing on the other side.
I used a 54" 54@29 Fedora take down recurve. The arrow was a 550 grain gold tip with a b52 broadhead.
Thanks for looking!

Congratulations! You'll have some good eating. Your feather choice of colors is the same I use--very visible.

thanks for the kind words guys. It was a good learning experience because I decided to wait the night before looking since I wasn't sure of my shot. I was so anxious to go look for the deer but it all worked out in the end.

Congratulations! What did the autopsy reveal about your shot?
-
The arrow entered in the upper right gluete and mostly hit guts. The broadhead passed about half an inch from a major artery (femoral?) just as the artery forked. I messed up the left lung when removing it and couldn't tell if it got pierced. This was my first deer that wasn't lung shot so I am very happy that I was lucky enough for it to bed down nearby.
