Hello to the tradgangers
Normaly a this time of the year i'm not hunting anymore, in south Alps hunting season close the first WE of january. But this year the Black Widow had a little extra time hunting last week for the closing time in a other area of France. A very good friend of mine invite me on the territory of his father in the center of France, a flat, windy, and cold raining place not far from Paris. They still have two tags of ROE DEER and it's was strongly recommended to shoot only a old doe without last summer faw.
during five days we work hard
in the morning hunting by foot and making observations
beginning of afternoon was dedicated to intall or move our 4 tree stands in hot spots
and from 4 PM to the night was the ambushing time
We don't see so many roe deer but finaly we succed to shot 2 old doe without faw, my friends Nicolas fall in love in bowhunting last year, up to now he is using a Matthews bow but some days perhaps he will try the good side of the force ???
the father of my friends is a very sceptical guy concerning bowhunting. He was finaly "almost" happy to see that you can not only hunt with a bow by shooting every thing mooving around ... but you can try also to manage your game population
I was lucky enough also to shot a good size Coypu, the first for me to shoot and to see.
In my dry moutain area we have no Coypu population
Voila, thanks you for your reading, escuses my english and i hope you will enjoy the pics
me, freezing !

The kind of Coypu hunt place

a good size Coypu for us , but they can be bigger sometimes

tree stand, this one will be good, each time you 're sure of that !

checking the big game mouvement on a salt leaking place

afternoon training time for me , not bad for 20 yards but far too much for my hunting regular shooting distance, it's easier on target !
this one will be the "good one ??"

I pass on two shot from tree stand 14 and 17 yards and one from the ground at 19 , a bit too far from me or on stressed animals. Roe deer are really quick to react and if you shoot a alerted one with a bow like mine (50 pounds ) with 720 grains arrows you sure to do wrong things.
Finalyy from a stand a have a good opportunity at 8 yards to do a "mexican-french" hart shot on a crossing old doe 100 % not alerted. The arrow hit exaltly the spot i was looking and pass trough but the angle was a bit to stip ... when she was running after the shot i see peices of stomach falling down on the ground.
To be sure to do the right thing, we call the neigbhour. He is an official blood dog driver and was very happy to do a research on a arrowed animal, the first time for him and his teckel.

the dog on the "anschuss", the place were i shot, really exited and motivated
(http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd133/kiboko_bucket/DSCN1154.jpg)
finaly, after 150 yards in straight line we found her, she was already dead and everybody was very happy !
specially me !
voila, good times with a good friend, everything was just nice, thanks you !

Congratulations! Even though Canada has much to offer the hunter, I still envy those of you who hunt Roe Deer. My wife and I saw a few when we were backpacking Europe and they are truly a special animal. Best of luck next season.

Nice.

Well done!
I'd love to bowhunt these little deer one day.
Hopefully Germany will follow France and Denmark and legalize our way of hunting.

thanks you for your comments guys :campfire:
Kip, i read your story with your recovery Lab, congrats to you team, sometimes i dream to have a garden to get a dog myself and to train him with blood trail.
Here the specialist of blood research with dog use teckel a lot but it's also a question of size of the dog.
Many of them use also Lab, one of my best friend use one black lab and he is naturally good to follow blood trail, and because they are much bigger than teckel they are also more effective when you release them on a hot trail to catch a still running wounded game
In my mountain area the blood dog driver used "rouge de bavière", a german dog but i don't know the english name

hello Philil
I hope that in the future bowhunting will be legal in germany, for denmark are you sure you can bowhunt there with a traditionnal bow ?
I think there is a nordic country where you can bowhunt but only with a Compoud bow ????

Great story. Thanks

I believe the dog you are referring to is a Bavarian Mountain Hound. The breed originated in Germany.

Hello Pon, what i can say about your interogation, ... what do you think ? May be perhaps because i love both chili con carné and red whine from "Vallée du Rhone" ... :campfire:

Hello Mickael, escuse me but my english is not good enough, what do you mean by "do you have a close up" ???
:campfire:

Congratulations! I still can't convince my wife that our muskrats are different than the nutria you have in France. She insists that the muskrats are going to steal her fish when we are fishing! Nice roe doe.
I hope you can get some of the other French guys to post thier hunts here. The guys on Archasse are very friendly and I have a couple opportunities for boar hunting in France in the future!
Nice to see the Teckel on the recovery as well - something we can learn from here.
