Once in a while I have to take a break from glass laminated bows and whip up a wooden bow. This one turned out pretty good.
Backing is a very thin piece of osage lamination (packing strip), the belly was a a couple of pieces of yew I had on the rack. The handle is Honduran Rosewood.
Pig skin handle wrap and shelf padding.

Charlie you are a true craftsman , beautiful bow , Fred
I saw this bow before it was finished. Looked like a real shooter to me. Lots of early draw load and fine lines. Told him 10# heavier and I'd like it fine. Already spoken for, maybe the next one...

Glad to see you back in the saddle again big brother! Like every other bow I've seen of yours, beautiful lines, color choices, and I'm sure...performance. She looks a might light for me though, but then, I'm not a good judge of weight based on the thickness of the limbs.
BEAUTIFUL!!! bet it shoots as good as it looks!!!!!!!!! :clapper: Don and Skyler

There's something to be said about a bow like that that looks so clean and classic. You eye see the whole bow, not just one section.
Only problem is the shelf is on the wrong side..

OK guys, I know it's not like me to drag things out.
;)
I delivered the bow tonight and have to admit I swelled with pride at the reception it got. Might have gotten a little drop of moisture in these old blue eyes.
Here's the pic I promised and I think it tells the rest of the story.

Kids just make my heart melt Joe! Here's a pic of the very first hands on, make the arrow fly event.
A little help...
This one was snapped just after the arrow left the bow. Note the intent gaze in those eyes.

Life's simple little rewards for both of you
PRICELESS!!!!!
I've made a number of kids bows over the years... kept my son pretty well supplied when he was a boy.
I don't make "toy" bows for them either. These little bows really shoot and always impress me.
After a couple of shots into a nearby dirt bank, I had Sam elevate and launch one down the horse pasture.
Without even reaching full draw that little yew bow spit the arrow and sent it spinning 75 yards down range.... much to her joy!
That's one of the tricks with kids.... make sure they get to "launch" one every once in a while. It sets their little hearts free.
I can remember as a boy spending hours with my buddy shooting arrows as far as we could and only quitting when it was time to go home for supper.
Kids really appreciate what it's all about... the shear joy of watching an arrow fly.
:archer:
I think sometimes it escapes adults and is something we should all revisit from time to time.
Alright Grandpa Charlie!!
Way to go Charlie! Thats smile is what it is all about. :clapper:
beautiful bow, Charlie
Thats AWESOME!!!
By looking at the first set of pics I would have never guessed that was a kids bow!
Wow! That's Pretty!
Nice going Charlie; the look on her face is priceless. One of those things in life you'll probably never forget.
Very nice -- :clapper:
Way to go Grandpa, must be nice being you!! I'm sure envious.
Like I said earlier bud...you do nothing but impress me :notworthy:
She's beautiful....
That last pic is my favorite. You can see the wheels turning as Sam watches her first arrow fly. Action, reaction, eye-hand and muscle memory connections being formed, and the satisfaction of being able to reach out and touch something THAT far away.
Priceless, Charlie. Thank you for giving us this priceless gift.
