Title: Bear's
Post by: swampbuck on March 11, 2008, 01:42:00 PM
Just wondering....I was driving home from Fla. yesterday and I'd have sworn I saw a black bear just into PA near the W. Virgina border. Is it possible that one would be out already ? I got a look from 2 angle's and while I didn't see it move I'd have sworn it was a bear.Since I was bopping right along I didn't have time to look for movement.

There wasn't any snow untill about the top 1/4 of PA.It was near an opening on a hill side where I'd suspect the grass was growing and just what bears would be lookin for it just kinda caught me off guard since I was thinkin they wouldn,t be out just yet.I'm about 90% sure it was a bear but I was driving and kinda had to pay attention to the road a little LOL

I'd have never guessed they'd be out this time of yr up in Alaska guess that makes it even more likely it was what I thought

The bears around me never went to sleep. May be just a nap. Yeah, they are out and about.

Sounds silly but Ive been seeing my chipmunks lately which have been absent from my yard all winter so Id be willing to bet other hibernators are on the move.

They're out and about here in northern NJ already. The dumpster at the pre-school down the street from me was turned completely over and the garbage strewn all over on Saturday morning.

Here we go again, 19 daylight sightings in my yard last year. Who knows how many more visited at night. Kids can't even play in the back yard without direct supervision.

I have to agree with the weather warming and such even our bears are waking up and moving about. I know of two spotted recently! Shawn

Been seeing a wood chuck at work for about a week now......

Bears will get up and about in the winter, but usually go right back to "bed"

They're not true hibernators. I saw one right on someone's porch last year while I was driving. February.

Curveman I hate to disagree but I do. Saw on the Discovery Channel a program on them. Pulled one right out of the den without drugging it or anything. Thought it was kinda stupid for them to do. But hey what do I know??? They were doing a study on black bears to find out how they servive so long (months)without going to the bathroom??? Something about toxins buildin up in the body... Was kinda cool.

I saw about 16 ground hogs yesterday. I think the warmer weather has them on the move.
