I use a pda a lot and I was wondering if we could get a lo-fi version that is mostly text format, with pictures that are just links...

just turn off browser imaging.

its not just the images that mess it up , its the formatting of the forum. i can turn images off to save time/bandwidth , but then if i want to see a pic , i have to turn it back on.
most of the issue is with the formatting , and about 2% of the issue is images.
just figured a lo-fi version like i see on a lot of other forums would be a simple server side script...

i dunno exactly what it is yer looking for. turning off my firefox's browser imaging still leaves a hot link in pace of any linked image, and a title for any image that has a title added to the 'img' code. not all unlinked images have titles, in fact, most do not. there's a LOT of embedded img code that would need to be modified!

there was a forum i used to be on that had the option , its sort of like this
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversion/index.php/
its kind of like how stuff is when its archived. the images are set into links , from what i usually see , its just the location link. i know some versions of vbulletin have it builtin , but i dont know if the cgi here supports a lo-fi version...
the link can show you more what i mean...it used to be used for slow versions or people without the latest plugins , but now i see it a lot where phones might be used on the forum.
for reference , my pda has a screen size of like 640x324 or something.its not the bandwidth that i want to limit , its 90% of the formatting and avatars and things like that.
thanks
