I'll try to help although the phrase the "blind leading the blind" comes to mind! :help:
JIM (2-Big) to resize your picture, open it on your computer using "Paint" (right click on the picture, then select "Open with" then select Paint) which is a standard program you'll find on any Windows version I know of. When your picture is open with Paint, select top tool bar "Image" and then "Stretch/Skew" in the tool bar. A box will open that will let you resize the pic. Simply insert the percentages you want, instead of 100% put 35% in both boxes for example and your pictures will be much more manageable. Then save your re-sized pic so you can upload it to the link above for forum use.
kurtbel5, you need to copy the forum link address and then paste it in the box opened on Trad Gang when you click the "Image" box on the fully reply form. If you copied and pasted it straight onto your post it won't work. When posting pics I always use the Preview Post box to make sure I got it right.

that's cause the [img] code is embedded in the imagelinky code - the exact same thing occurs with photobucket

When I upload mine on the computer I right click on the image, open with "paint", click on the resize image tab, click on the pixels option, and if you do this you can put right in there you want it 640 wide and it does the rest for you.
As opposed to PB you never have to worry about deleting pictures or running out of room.

the OLD photobucket (not the NEW photobucket) is THE way to go for automatically resizing images as you upload them to photobucket, and they will instantly be the correct width to post at trad gang.

If you right click on the image above and hit "properties", it shows 640 wide.
Then if you click on the image to display it, the "properties" show 1226 wide.
Then click again to enlarge it to full size, then right click to get "properties", is is 3123 wide!

i use either www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) or www.imgur.com (http://www.imgur.com) and both of these default any image uploads as "public", not "private". you might wanna give one of those a try - imgur is the easiest of the two, if that'll help.
