Ok guys, I'm trying to figure our how to use Imgur. Please bear in mind I'm doing this without the supervision of one of my kids.
Anyway, here goes:

Huh, what do you know? It worked!

That's top shelf stuff right there Mr. Johnson.

This bow is what I call my recurve #2. Heavily influenced by others, but my own design.
It's 62" NTN with a target draw weight of 50lbs @ 28 and roughly 55 lbs at my draw length of 30".
The riser is Paudauk, Beli, and hard maple. The core is hard maple with a strip of uni-weft. The veneers are spliced Paudauk and Beli with a maple accent in the joint. The tip overlays are white phenolic and water buffalo horn.
Right now I'm in the process of filling and sealing the grain with super glue. Then, it'll be time for final sanding.
I hope to shoot it with clear coat on Saturday. I'll be using Eastwood European clear. This is an automotive type catalyzing urethane. I've had excellent luck with it.
I'll keep posting pics as I proceed.
Thanks for looking!

Thank you! Most of my bows are a little more plain Jane than this one. I had an urge to make something a little nicer.

Stunning!

Sweet!!

Very nice !!

Nice work there! Like the wood combinations.
-
Super nice! I ran out of gas making take down long bows and needed some inspiration. I've been thinking about making a one piece recurve. Thanks for the inspiration!
-
Very nice!!!
But ya know we’re gonna need some braced and full draw pics :readit:

Beautiful work already. I’m looking forward to seeing the final pictures and the full draw.

Can you explain how you made the mosaic riser?

Thank you!
The mosaic is actually pretty easy to do, but difficult to explain. I'm going to post some pics of the process in the near future. Essentially, it's just a matter of gluing up short blocks of wood in a pattern and then cutting it into strips.
I'm participating in the bow swap this year. I think maybe I'll do it as a build along so I can illustrate how I do various things such as this riser.

Beautiful bow you have made!

Its a looker... Nice Job...

That is one good looking tip and string groove. Red core tuff in the stack?

No, there's a strip of black uni-weft. The red you're seeing is paudauk. It's a lot brighter on the edge where it's not under glass.

Ok, I've got it finished up!
I shot it with four coats of urethane and then wet sanded it out with 800 grit followed by 2000 grit paper. Then, hand rubbed with polishing compound.

I put this phrase on all of my bows. "Duem Benedicite Opus Manus Meae". It means, God bless the work of my hands.
