Where is the most dependable place to purchase elk sinew for backing a hickory bow?
-
I buy most of my sinew from Moscow Hide & Fur. I know 3 Rivers also sells it.

+1 Moscow hide & fur !

There was a lady that came on here briefly that skinned deer and elk for a living and had tons of sinew for sale. She was an authentic counterculture subsistence type of person.
She posted a link to her website which was a no no for a non paying member and subsequently drifted off.
I found it; her name is Harmony Cronin, google it.

Go to a local deer processor and you can probably get as many deer legs as you want, to process your own sinew. Last time I went to my butcher for this I got 75 back legs. Took about 1 hour for 2 guys to process.

if i may ask, why the sinew for a hickory bow.
is the back violated. hickory is very strong tension wood , as you know. are you not concerned about the sinew really overpowering the belly?
just curious :)
cheers mate!
