Title: Chek-Mate Firebird
Post by: Whitetail Chaser on March 09, 2008, 06:50:00 PM
I just got a Firebird on a trade (thanks SeargentYork), and I had some tuning questions.

What brace height is best?

Any tips on quieting down the bow?

I am already shooting 10gpp arrows.  It just seems to have a loud limb slap.  I will certainly raise the brace height (8 3/8 right now), but is there a danger of raising it too much?

Thanks,
Brett

best I can remember I shot mine close to 9"s. I also used a DF-97 string with cat whiskers and I shot about 10gpp. it wasn't the most quiet bow I've had but it sure was smooth drawing. you get bored with it send me a PM.

I set my two firebirds up at 8.75 inch of brace height...then go from there... they do seem to have to be on the high side to get rid of bow noise. once you got it, they become almost silent...

You can run the brace up to 9".  They are picky about tuning for silence--I've moved the silencers 1" on the string and made a world of difference.  Your nock fit will also make a difference.  They can be made very quiet, just takes a little tinkering.
