I'm just about finished with this new osage selfbow. I've added a couple of coats of Tru-Oil, a leather arrow rest, tip overlays and a decorative backing but I'm still waiting for a care package to arrive from Clint with some tacky accessories which should be here in the next few days. In the mean time here is a little Tacky tease...

Looks like a rocket launcher with that unstrung profile! Can't wait to see it finished!

I got the rest of her get-up today so she'll be ready to flaunt her stuff soon.

Looking good Pat
when was the last bow you made?
At the Classic you said you had not made one for a while?
-
Is it done yet Pat???
-
Very nice, Pat.

Mark, probably 2 years or so but it's like riding a bicycle, ya know. :D
Clint, it will still be a while. Got a lot of other irons in the fire. I did try the FF string. It is a tad short. I untwisted it some and will try it again and let you know. It sure is skinny. The box of goodies will sure help her meet her full potential...fashion-wise that is. :saywhat:

Don't keep us waiting to long.

Mark, she came out of tiller a little so I had to go back to get the limbs evened up. She is 66" t/t, 1 1/2" to about mid limb then tapering to 3/8" tips. She's pulling about 44#@26" now and I hope to keep here about there. Once I get the finish on and she's all dolled up, I'll post more pics. I'll try to get another teaser for you guys soon.

Here's another "Tacky" tease...

Nice patterns I prefer the end one.

I got zealous and decorated an unproven bow. She came out of tiller so I've had to get that problem worked out first. Retillering shouldn't affect the decorated backing unless I have to pike the bow to add weight. She's in the low 40s at 26" now. I guess we'll just have to see.
I've been building wood bows for 30 years. In the last few years I have slacked off a bit but the "knowns" still bite you in the arse if you ignore them. You'd think I'd learn.
...to be continued.

I know the feeling, Pat.

I got her re-tillered and put about 30 arrows through her yesterday. She still shoots well so I won't have to pike her. I had no predetermined draw weight but was sorta expecting about 45#@26'. I haven't re-checked the weight but I'm satisfied with how she shot. To be continued...

Glad it worked out for ya, Pat. Nothing worse than a bow you are not satisfied with. I've already gotten disgusted and cut bows into pieces.

That's what I'm talkin about
