bloody hell#1........those timbers and your joinery look incredible - congratulations.
bloody hell#2.......I haven't seen glass peel back like that before. I'm sure you already know how you'll take your tape off differently for ever on, you don't need anyone's advice on that.
I'm really sorry mate - I'm not quite brave enough to really imagine how i'd react if that happened to me. Was the end of the glass you peeled from a sawn edge? Looks like a little chipped section of glass or just a few fibres stuck fast to the tape and......

Hey Robert, that stinks man!!
You didn't happen to pull from the tip toward center by chance? Thats the only time I've had that happen...
The other bow looks great!

Why yes I did Kenny, and Dazzad it was after I saw cut a couple inches off the length. I guess it's a good thing I'm use to feelin dumb. DANG IT. I might be able to laugh at myself tomorrow, but tonight I got glass splinters in my fingers and an empty spot in my wallet. DANG IT.

First two bows are superb! I personally have not seen glass peel like that. But, I am going to be extra careful next time I am removing tape!

Yes thanks for the free lesson Robert, sorry it's at such a cost to yourself..
But to return to a positive - jeez those bows are exceptional, what beautiful work. I guess all I'd know how to do is hustle onto the next one and bury the negative with some new positive....

Yeah... Thanks for the lesson... It never happened to me but I guess I will be peeling my tape from the riser to the tips from now on....
-
Yes I did that before.
I make sure I sand the edges of the glass and the tip cutoff good before I pull the tape off.
And I pull from the riser out to the tips now.
Bummer.

Gentle use of a heat gun will soften the adhesive on the tape and make it peel very easily.

Did something similar on my first one. Sand paper somehow picked up the edge of the tape and peeled some glass. It was on the very edge. My bow did not look near as nice as yours, but still made me sick. I am very careful sanding now! Seems like the only way I improve is by screwing something up. You probably just saved multiple tradgangers from going through what you just did, but it still sucks! Thanks for posting it.

Thanks for the kind words on the first 2 bows! Sometimes I think I could do a topic called DAG-NAB-IT don't do that. Seems like I've got several of them. Live and learn. I guess I'll start a new one.

You should email Chad Holm , he has taken glass off and replaced to save a bow .
And put a post in the tips and tricks thread to save someone else the agony.
You are doing some fine work Robert!
