Title: Bow Builder(s) Needed
Post by: NYRON on August 17, 2017, 12:51:00 PM
I’m considering expanding my business to begin selling bows. I have a specific vision and market that I’ll be targeting. I have a website with storefront, an existing customer base, and a large e-mail marketing list. If things go well, I also plan to establish a much better web presence

Here’s the problem…I am, at best, a mediocre bow builder.

I’m looking for someone to work with me on a couple of bow designs and to build both stock and custom bows that I’ll sell under my brand. I can share my vision/business plan with those who are serious about partnering.

This is a great opportunity for someone with the skill and capacity to consistently build high-quality bows on demand, but doesn’t want to deal with the hassles of running a retail business, or for an existing commercial bowyer who has capacity to build an extra line of bows to increase sales.

I’m willing to consider bowyers in any region, but would really like to find someone within a six hour drive of upstate NY.

I’ve been involved with traditional archery for more than 25 years and know lots of bowyers. I have two bowyers who are interested in this opportunity, but I’m keeping my options open to make sure we have the right fit. I’m also willing to working with more than one bowyer—a little diversity could be good.

For anyone who wants to know more about me and my hunting and conservation work, you can check out    Traditional Spirit Outdoors (http://wwwTraditionalSpiritOutdoors.com) .

Please let me know by e-mail ([email protected]) if you are interested or know a bow builder who might be.

Thanks,
Ron

I would go to Binghams projects and start there. It takes time to get skilled. Even working with someone there is a learning curve.

Just to be clear, I'm not interested in learning to build bows. I've already done some of that.

This is a business venture and I'm looking for a bowyer to partner with.

If I was closer, I'm in MO,  and if selfbows were an option Id talk to you about it. At the rate I go, I can get one per week done. And with a full work schedule, that would be pushing it a bit right now. Otherwise I'd love to talk to you about it, then make and send a bow for you to check out. It sounds like a great opportunity for someone.

I don't see any of your bows?
I don't see anything that you make?

I'd be interested but with a full time job now, it would take the fun out of building bows for me.  If you're still looking for someone 15 years from now when I retire, look me up.

Good luck in your business endeavor.

Kyle, my focus has been on laminated bows, but I might consider selfbows too. They are a different beast when it comes to customer service/warranty issues. Shoot me an e-mail and we can talk. Lots of great Osage in MO.

Mad Max, I'm a full-time wildlife biologist and outdoor writer. The bow making venture is completely new, so no I don't currently sell bows. My customer list and contacts come from book purchases and my blog.

John, I'll give you a shout if I'm still at this 15 years from now! I go through Howard now and then. I went to Penn State and my in-laws live in Centre Hall. I've also done some field work at Bald Eagle State Park--nice area.

Ron - Small world indeed.  If you're ever visiting the in-laws and want to fling a few, give me a shout.

Best of luck in this expansion of your business Ron. I recall hearing your podcast interview on Meateater. As a Biologist and bowhunter, Iwas nodding my head in agreement A LOT listening to that interview. Again, Good luck!

Thanks, Carson. The Meateater podcast was fun and, in part, the reaction to it is driving some of interest in the bow business.
