Title: I-beam
Post by: Kauz on July 28, 2017, 07:36:00 PM
Hello,
I got some pretty wood I'd like to make into risers for glass longbows. Some of it (Red Palm and a laminated black and white wood) are rather low density, and for stability I thought of making an I-beam construction using 1mm (0.04") glass.
If I bend the glass so it lies to the right side of the sight window, the ends will not be in the middle of the fade-outs. Is it likely that this will result in torquing the limbs when drawn?

make it end in the middle of the fade

Thanks for the suggestion. However, I don't think this would change a lot, as only the very ends would be in the middle, the rest still more to one side. Making the I-beam straight would result in it being cut by the sight window

You can off set it without the bend and it will work.

Yep off center to the sight widow side so you do not get into it when cutting the shelf and sight window.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I'll try, and when I'll ever succeed in finishing the bow(s), I'll report. So many ideas, so little time ...
