About a year ago I built this TD for a buddy of mine- he's been shooting it non stop since then. I figured it was time to make another one and add it to my collection. (http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll259/truxturning/image_zpswmj637tg.jpeg)

I picked up some wood this spring but for the life of me I can't remember what it is- I do know it's not tiger wood.Since I had various pieces left over from other mosaic projects, I rounded them up and will use them in this riser. The riser is 13" long.

Good to see you back again Dave. I was worried you had found and entered a bowyer's rehab, you should know there is no cure for our affliction.
I can't wait to see this one come together it is going to be a real beauty. I have got to get around to trying one of those statics.
Oh and I can relate to not remembering the name of the wood. Seems it is getting harder to remember things all the time.
-
I always like what David makes
-
Dave it's going to be a good looking bow that's for sure
-
Sweet start.
-
Thanks guys- Jess no bowyers rehab either-lol.
I got the mosaics ground and fitted to the riser, I'll add some glue and get it all stuck together.

Looking good.
-
That's gonna be sweet Dave!!
-
Clamped and glued- just needs a little clean up...

Next thing I need to decide on is the glass and the core- I have black, green, 2 different browns and clear glass to choose from. I got to thinking about the clear and picked this red wood burl veneer to go with the boo core.

Cleaned up riser and lams- I think this will work well together...

Looking good David
I like the veneers
-
Love redwood burl that's going to look rich
-
That's going to be a sweet looking bow! I'll be keeping an eye on this build along.
-
Got the limbs all glued up and have a riser- time to get a bow put together-

Had to take a peek at the limbs- the red wood burl looks pretty good-

-
Cut the limb pads on the riser- probably will use a different limb mounting system...

Looks great David!!
-
Excellent work David!!
I really like this one
-
Very nice! Looking forward to the finished bow
-
Looks great Trux, they sure are static hooks! Reckon it will fling an arrow!
-
Awesome....
-
That's gonna be a beautiful bow! I like how that wood gets lighter at the bottom of the riser. Is it not just a b____ to glue up limbs with a sharp bend like that?
-
Mike it is a handful to get the limbs glued up with that sharp hook- since this is the second one I haven't found an easy way yet.
-
So I broke out the drilling jig and goth everything drilled and the inserts installed. a buddy of mine made this jig for me- works way better than my other one.

Alignment looks good.

Here's a preview with the limbs mounted and the riser shaped out a bit.

Can't wait to see a full draw on this.
In fact, I'd love to shoot it!
-
Worked on the bow some more- got the tips glued on-
(http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll259/truxturning/image_zpswiyqh5p5.jpeg)
Once those were dry I cut the string groves and strung it up. The brace height is pretty low but the tiller is even and there is minimal limb twist to deal with.

-
I wanted to add some over lays to the riser and the belly side of the hooks- so I dug out some burl veneers for the riser and a piece of boo with a veneer for the limbs- once the glue is dried I'll get to work shaping the riser.

Sweet!
-
Looking fantastic Trux!

TTT
Any finished pics?
-
No finished pictures yet... got the tips shaped and decided to glue on a thumb rest before finishing the riser. I did fling a few arrows off it and it does behave nicely- also I guess I need to find another picture hosting site since I'm not going to upgrade the current one...
-
Looking great so far...love the lines!!
-
OK so I figured out the picture posting- the riser needed something so I added overlays to the front and back of the riser.

I did shoot it some and it's easy to draw and shoots fairly quick. I still need to reduce the riser bulk but its slowly coming along.

Liking that riser !
-
SWEET !!
-
Well here it is- it finished 45#@ 28". I've had the clear glass for awhile and it was dated back to when they were having some issues with quality, there are a few streaks in it but that's not going to bother me. I tried the VHT wheel finish (matte) on it and so far so good- I'll let it cure for a day or two before I put on the strike plate and run some arrows through it. At some point I'll probably make a second set of limbs in the mid 50's range for it- it does shoot nice though.
