Title: Getting family into the scene
Post by: nightowl1 on March 08, 2008, 11:41:00 PM
I have already brought my dad into this cult... now my brother wants to join. Any ideas on a good light beginner bow that could be acquired for less than $100? Not sure if he wants to stick with it so he doesn't want to spend that much... He needs something between 35 and 40#? WOuld a shakespeare be a good choice? Pearson longbow?
What would you choose?

I've seen some of the Pearsons and Shakespeares go for dirt cheap on the auction sites. I don't think you can go wrong with an old Pearson, Shakespeare, Howatt, or Herters if you can find them at the right price.
Some one just had one of the aforementioned on the trad sight listed for $75. After using it for a while they could sell it and move to something a bit better without losing any money.
Still a lot of excellent buys on those old bows made 40 and 50 years ago.
