Thinking about trying a Great Northern Ghost Jack-Knife. Just looking for some comments from those who have owned one. A few things I'm curios about...1) Is the bump on the grip (caused by the hinge)bothersome? 2) Is the bow in its take-down state less compact than other takedowns that come completely apart?
Thanks! Scott
I've got 3 Jackknife GNs; had a couple others, including a Ghost. The hinge bump was never a problem for me; in fact, it serves as a mini-locator. Best takedown system for longbows I've used. You're right, though...a Ghost broken down is not as compact as, say, a similar recurve with a system that allows the two halves to come completely apart.
I have 2 critter getter jacknife t/d and a ghost t/d. The hinge doesn't bother me either. I also have a ghost with a Robertson hing for the exact reason stated by paradocs. The GN hinge doesn't allow for a very compact recurve to throw into your airline bagage. The Robertson hinge separates for 2 easy to store limbs.
Nothing to lose, simple design, no failure worries, open it, string it, and shoot. Great bows. Hinge is great locator, overall might not fold as small as others but how small do you
really need it- is the question.
