What are some of you shooting up front on your carbons? Give me point weight, adapter and insert total. Thanks.
I am shooting a CX heritage 350 with a 100 grain brass insert and a 150 grain Magnus stinger for a total of 250 up front.
I am working on a heavier arrow right now. It is a CE Heritage 250 with 360 up front (100 gr brass insert, 100 grain steel broadhead adapter, and 160 grain STOS/Zwickey/Grizzley). My bow is a R/D longbow shooting approximately 55# at my 27" draw length. I just started bare shafting and it is showing slightly weak at full length so I don't know exactly what it will weigh when I am done trimming it down but I am shooting for 650-700 grains total arrow weight.
I shoot 5575 arrows with a 100 grain brass insert, and a 100 grain broadhead adapter, and a 125 broadhead. Total up front is 325 or so. My bow is a 55 pound black swan impala. This setup shoots hard and is still fast.
I'm shooting 305 up front now on my aluminums. I might switch to carbons but to get the same arrow weight I might need 335 to 385 up front. Is this crazy ?
Just worked up some CX250's...29", 100 grain brass adapter and 125 head. 595gr total weight, and JUST in the Extreme FOC range at 19.2%
Shooting these from a 55# hybrid LB, they fly much flatter than the 650gr cedars
AD Trad Lites with 75 and 100 grain brass inserts, and 125 and 150 grain screw-in broaheads. 225 up front works best for me.
If you are by chance looking for around 300+ up front check out the 300 grain broadheads on Bob Morrison's website.
I use 125-grain points with standard inserts/adapters -- RPS adapters for screw-in field points, Flightmate adapters for broadheads.
I suppose that would put the total point/adapter/insert weight total at around 145 grains.
Bucky, Tom convinced me to try some GTs out of my Turkey Creek. A full-length (30") 3555 with 300 grains up front weighs in at 580 grains. And they fly like darts.
Anybody else?
Easton Axis 340's with 100 grain brass insert, 125 grain steel adapter and 125 WW. that puts me at 350 gr up front
Beman 500 with 100gr insert, with a 175gr point = about 520gr.
Jason should say he also has a gorilla draw!! :bigsmyl: I am shooting Heritage 150's cut to 29.5"s out of a 54#@28.5" Arroyo with 50 grain brass insert and 125 grain heads. Shawn
