Ok, I'm making up three dozen youth arrows. Each dozen is stained with a different color, but are identical Water based acrylic. They all have five topcoats of minwax wipe on gloss water based poly.
I put the last coat of poly on two days ago and the finish is cured to a good hard finish on all shafts,.... except one. It is still tacky and refuses to dry.
All shafts are identical POC.
Any thoughts on what is going on?
Not a serious problem, but certainly a curious one.

Sorry guys, I meant for this to go to Pow Wow.
-
The dozen that are acting up are probably female.
-
It's only one out of six which points more to one of my grandkids. :biglaugh:
-
Maybe that one shaft has a bunch of resin in it?

Any thoughts on what is going on?
Yup, the one arrow is sticky.. :wavey:
-
Thanks,Roy. I knew you would have a solution. :biglaugh:
I think longtoke is onto something. It's now been about five days since the last finish application and all of them are well cured but that one is still sticky.

Ok here's what ya gotta do ole timer!
Strip it down to bare wood. Stain it, then one coat of shellac, then your final finish over that.
Ya unnerstand?
-
Hah, that arrow is built! Feathers on and burned and point mounted along the others. I'm going to let it sit for five or six years and see what happens. :)

Put it in your hot box..

Just getting my hot box out of the shed and set up is a 45 minute project. Think I'll just build another arra.
