Hello all,
I have started tinkering with making a fiberglass laminated take-down recurve bow and I am trying to figure my limb thickness for draw weight. I was looking at the Binghams chart ( https://www.binghamprojects.com/Bow%20Draw%20Weight%20Chart.pdf ) for a little inspiration, knowing that it will not be exact to my design, but I was wonder what the dimensions of the riser used for the bingham take-down recurve is so I can compare it to my own design, and see if I can get closer on a appropriate thickness.

Unless you follow Binghams design those charts will be off. Riser length pad angle even limb shape has to be the same for them to work. To know the riser lengths etc. you might have to purchase the plans. Not a bad thing for your first bow.

I understand they will be off, all I really want to know is how long the riser they have is, just so I can get in a rough area. The fun part will be figuring the correct thickness on my own. I just want to be ballpark so I don't end up with a unrealisticly heavy or light bow.

19" I think I remember. No idea on pad angles.

The binghams riser is either 21 or 22 inches and the pad angles are 22 degrees.

Unless they changed it from 20 some years ago when I built one, the riser is 19". The pad angle then was 21*

19" for the shorter bow 21" for the longer bow
We are not suppose to give out Info like this.
After you build a couple you will wish you bought some plans.
shape of riser, pad angle, curve of the limbs,ect.
You need to buy some plans, and then everything will turn out right.

Kenny you are correct. I should have looked back at my instructions. The pad angle is 21 and I made a 64" bow so the riser was 21.

Since Binghams sells plans their pattern should not be shared.
But the length of the riser and pad angles is,fair game.
Bowyers on here share their own plans. Like KennyM.

Oookay, to clarify, I have no intentions on using any kind of pattern or design that I have not payed for. All I was trying to figure out was what their chart correlated to so I could attempt to figure out where to start. Its like getting a graph without any labels. Part of what makes this kind of thing fun is trial and error. If you know you can make it perfect every time, it looses its spark. So, apologies to anyone who thought I was trying to steal plans, but that's not the case here. and thank you to all who have helped me out!

I bought (Build you own Bow) plans
62" Recurve Take down.
Modified it to a 1 Piece and made the limbs width tapered. .003 Taper changed to .002
That makes the design I have mine now.
Is that right ????????????
